SMELL

"Smell seems to be the sense of singularity. Forms reappear, invariant or recurrent, harmonies are transformed, stable across variations, specificity is countersigned by aroma. With our eyes closed, our ears stopped, feet and hands bound, lips sealed, we can still identify, years later and from a thousand other smells, the undergrowth of such and such a place in a particular season at sunset, just before a rain storm, or the room where feed corn was kept, or cooked prunes in September, or a woman."  Philosopher Michel Serres, The Five Senses I have always desired a life of bohemian ambience and find myself immersing in this aesthetic more and more. 1. Make sure the wick is trimmed to approx. 3-5mm to ensure a smaller flame, longer burn time and less soot (the width of your little finger is a great guide). Essential oils can be extracted by pressing rinds and others are extracted by the gentler method of distillation with water...

How natural is the wax in your Soy Candle?

Soy wax candles aren't all the same and it is important to know what your are buying and burning. Not all soy candles are created equal or made with non-GMO responsibly sourced Soy Wax. Many are labelled "Natural" or as "Vegetable" wax blends when in fact this can mean there are hidden additives within the scented candles you purchase. More often than not, the soy candle wax you are burning, may contain a blend of soy and palm wax, and even worse it may contain paraffin wax also. For reasons of personal health and wellbeing and for the state of our planet it is wise to do your research if wishing to purchase soy only wax candles. A little candle history:...
